  • During this period (February to April 2017), a total of US$1,288.26 (via the Global Giving website from 21 donations, eight of them recurring, many thanks for the continued support). All your donations and giving this coral species a chance.
  • A new coral nursery was installed in Luperón Bay, an enclosed mangrove bay in the North coast of Dominican Republic. This was conducted by combining efforts of Tropigas Foundation, whom have supported RCDR coral nursery program for about 8 years now. Coral fragments for this new coral nursery were brought from Sosua Bay, with help from biologist Manuel Rodriguez of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources.
  • During February, we conducted a strong effort to restore La Caleta coral nursery, as it was damaged during storm Mathew in late 2016, a total of 24 new coral nursery frames were installed. DP Caucedo sponsored most of the work, which also included the installation of an underwater museum, consisting on statues replicating Taino Gods, and also 4 buoys that indicate an open water swim circuit in La Caleta, where lots of swimmers and triathletes go train every weekend.
