Our vision is to invigorate a new generation of rural African youth to become changemakers, dedicated to improving the communities & world they inhabit. We are beginning this journey with a primary school that offers a Montessori-style international education, plenty of sport, dance & music, & 20 minutes of yoga daily, to 100s of children of some of the poorest families in rural Uganda. Children are nurtured to become exuberant, fully rounded individuals, in harmony with themselves & the world.
Learning should nurture innovation, imagination & ingenuity. But rural schools in the region are generally over-crowded, underfunded, & reliant on teacher-led methods of memorisation-learning, or 'chalk & talk'. As such, the delicate potential in every child rarely gets to flower. With a high percentage of rural parents on monthly incomes below $40, & many parents illiterate themselves, the vicious circle is complete, with no wherewithal to uplift rural children's learning.
Our curriculum is designed to ignite a child's natural curiosity to learn & explore. These children are being offered the foundations for them not to stand in line for jobs, but to be the ones to create jobs in Africa. Due to the efforts of dedicated volunteers we are able to keep costs to a fraction of other international schools. We are seeking individuals & companies touched by the initiative who are willing to 'adopt' a child, whether it be the full or partial adoption of their education.
Sadhguru: 'Education needs inspiration, not just information. Only inspired human beings can transform their own lives and lives around them.' These vibrant children will have the tools to become anything they want in life; pioneers to kickstart a virtuous circle of positive change in their rural surroundings. An inspired education is the only effective way to bring about the sustainable long-term social, economic & creative wellbeing of rural communities in Africa.
