Since its launch on the GlobalGiving platform, the project “Address the Issue of Hate Speech in DRC” (#63995) has not yet received financial contributions. Despite this challenge, we have continued to advance the project through preparatory and foundational efforts. These include strengthening our internal strategy, refining our approach to community engagement, and maintaining close monitoring of the evolving context in eastern DRC, where hate speech and misinformation continue to fuel tensions and violence. We have also used this period to build informal networks with local actors and identify potential community facilitators who can support rapid implementation once resources are secured.
While the lack of funding has delayed the full rollout of planned activities, it has also provided an opportunity to further align the project with local realities and donor expectations. We are actively exploring complementary funding channels and partnerships to support implementation, while continuing to raise awareness about the project through outreach and communication efforts. The need for this initiative remains highly relevant and urgent, and we remain committed to launching impactful activities as soon as funding becomes available, ensuring that interventions are well-targeted, context-sensitive, and sustainable.
