Due to the situation of conflicts in DR Congo especially the current war between the DRC army forces and the M23, many congolese people develop a distrustful behaviour towards other community members because they think they've been supporting the enemies of DRC. Due to that situation, many people especially young people spread Hate Speech via different communication ways such as social media and direct messages. These messages negatively impact the the good social cohesion between communities living in North Kivu.
It was a ncessity for Blessed Aid to implement this project because it intended to be a framework for exchanges, information, training and education for sustainable peace in the Great Lakes region. It complays for advocacy for responsible behaviour and shared public campains and educational resources for all the communities living in Democratic Republic of Congo in particular and those of the Great Lakes region in genaral. The Activities planned in this project through the establishment of this Center should contribute to reduce community conflicts in the Great Lakes region and more particularly in DRC. Many people such as young people, pupils, students, adults, children, civil and military authorities and even women engaged in cross-border trade who would pass through this Center in order to be trained, informed and educated on the culture of peace, social cohesion and other themes related to sustainable peace. Through the implementation of a Peace Training and Education Center, young people both boys & girls (university students, secondary schools' pupils, etc), local authorities, women engaged in cross-border trade and other people from DRC and from the Great Lakes region should receive strategies on how to tackle Hate Speech.
Even though three months have already passed without registering any donations, we continue to call upon your generosity so as help tackle Hate Speech in DRC and spread messages of tolerance between the different communities living in North Kivu province.
Our organisation, Blessed Aid, is still committed to work hard in order to address the issue of Hate Speech in the DRC especially in east which is the epicenter of the conflicts in DRC.
