Our founder, Julius Achon, recently traveled to the US and Australia. His goals were to raise awareness of the struggles in Northern Uganda, and to raise critical funds required for AUCF to expand our maternity services.
Our clinic in Uwake, Otuke District, Northern Uganda, has offered very basic maternity services for over three years. But we are in the process of expanding our services, in order to meet the growing needs of the community (the average family has 8 children!). In order to be an approved maternity facility, we are required to have a full-time mid-wife, separate delivery and maternity recovery facilities, and several new pieces of equipment (ultrasound, delivery table, etc). Our goal this summer is to raise $20K in order to have these services approved and operating by Fall.
A book was recently published about Julius Achon and our charity. It can be found here.
