If there's one thing we've learned in the eight years that we've been operating Achon Uganda Children's Fund, it's that it is difficult to operate an effective organization--and in particular, a health clinic--from over ten thousand miles away. We now know that we must be present, as frequently as possible, if we want to make the progress, and the difference, that we aspire to make.
This year, we've had more volunteers on the ground in the villiage of Awake in N. Uganda than any year before. One person in particular spent months at our clinic, providing support, education, and helping to allocate the funds that we collect. In November, and then again in December, we have two large groups making the trip to offer their support.
In hte past few months, we've seen our patient count increase as the rainy season arrives. Also, we're almost complete with the central water collection and distribution system, which will bring fresh water to each part of the clinic. This is critical to providing clean and effective care.
Thank you!
