Empowering women is a way out of the circle of violence, so for Naaxwiin it is also important to work on the prevention of violence because through these spaces for reflection and awareness, women learn and defend their rights, recognize that as indigenous women, they also have rights, especially the right to live free of violence. Some women break the silence and leave the mistreatment they experience at home and decide to report it. However, although we are helping women realize that violence is not normal and must be reported when it is experienced, violence has not diminished. The situation of women, girls, and adolescents in the family, marital, community, and institutional spheres is alarming and worrisome and is reflected in various types of mistreatment, exclusion, discrimination, and aggression that violate the human, collective, and individual rights of indigenous women.
So far this year in Naaxwiin we have attended 216 users, including women, girls, and adolescents, who have received comprehensive care that includes listening, emotional support, psychological and legal care, translation, channeling, and accompaniment. We have provided a total of 993 legal and psychological services. The most frequent violence that we have identified when listening to them is psychological violence, followed by economic, physical, patrimonial, and sexual violence. Working on prevention and care is a way of building good treatment in the family and community.
We appreciate your donation because it makes it possible for more women to access their rights by receiving legal and psychological care.
