In 2022 the gender violence in Mexico, specifically against indigenous women, had an increase according to statistic information published by INEGI (ENDIREH, 2021, p. 25). In our region the situation for indigenous women was not better than other years because the structural cause of violence persist. However, our organization Nääxwiin offer to indigenous women the opportunity to receive accompaniment for attending their particular cases. Only in 2022, 288 indigenous women received different attentions: 127 received legal advice, 120 received psychology attention y 41 women attended to the office for general attention.
One of this case was that of Virginia, an indigenous woman that attend to us to find help for their granddaughters, victims of gender violence in their own house:
“I no longer knew where or who to turn to for help, I felt lonely as if I had no one else, but my niece told me that she knew where could help me, that exist Nääxwiin, an organization that would provide me accompaniment. I felt more calm when I arrived to Nääxwinn because I saw that received accompaniment and because of that I was able to draw strength to continue the complaint process against my husband. I thank God very much because they have helped me a lot, they have not charged me for gasoline and especially for food, and that is very important to me, I thank them very much, I ask God to take care of each one of the members of the organization”.
