With to your support RED International’s partner, RED International’s partner in India, Good Shepherd Economic Development (GSED) have provided over 600 WaterWheels to Rajasthan, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra.
Wello India was able to transfer the production rights of their WaterWheels to India’s largest plastic manufacturer, Nilkamal Ltd. This keeps costs down as they can manufacture in bulk and easily distribute through their nationwide network. Thanks to funds raised through GlobalGiving in 2016, GSED were able to order 300 WaterWheels from Nilkamal. In June 2017 they received 200 units for West Bengal to go to Jalpaiguri, Durgapur and Thakuranichak. A further 100 units will go to Rajasthan.
This year the monsoon was earlier than expected. Due to this the distribution of WaterWheels was not done completely as last year. At the same time, this summer in West Bengal drought affected 28 lakh people. This is an enormous help to women who have to travel long distances to get water.
Thank you so much for your support. Your gift really does go a long way to helping women get water in rural India.
