Dear Friends, Supporters, and Donors,

We would like to thank you for your continuous support. We appreciate your generous contributions to the poor couples who can’t afford & access the family planning services. Your support has led to changes in our intervention areas.

                                          Voice from the ground

We have already decided to go for a proper gap in our first and second child birth. Since our first baby, we were thinking that how and which IUCD will be benefitted. I heard a lot of rumours that, it impacts the health of mother and causes excessive bleeding some time”.

                                          - Archana, F/36 from Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh)

Archana lives in a remote village called Moti Jheel in Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh) with her husband and five months old baby boy named master Aditya. After this planned baby, Archana’s husband Anand was very happy. At the time of baby birth, the doctor convinced them to opt for a family planning method for appropriate spacing between two child births. Ideally it should be 2 years of gap, from first and second child birth as per World Health Organisation (WHO). The mother’s body gets fully recovered from her first pregnancy as she replenishes he nutritious she lost in her first pregnancy.

Archana said, my husband was not aware of gap methods like- IUCD, Oral Pills, Injection etc. so he asked me to get some information about the same from the health worker. From one of my neighbour, I got the contact details of Merry Tarang Member (MTW) who used to visit our village and keep us informed so that timely decisions can be taken.

I called Sunita (MTW) to get details and requested her to let me know about her next visit. After a few days, she came to my house. That time my husband was about to leave home to earn daily wages but I insisted him to stay for a while so that the information regarding family planning methods could be understood and an informed further decisions could be made.

Sunita didi first asked all the details about the baby birth like his age (05 months), my medical health condition and then she introduced to  IUCD and its procedure. Sunita didi asked us to visit MerryGold Hospital so that the doctors can help us to understand the finer details.

Me and my husband discussed the matter and felt relaxed that at least we were aware about a Family Planning methods and this would in a way impact my health as well as my children’s health in a positive way. As scheduled, we visited the hospital next week and met the Doctor. We just had to fill a form with our basic details and it was done.

My Husband was worried about the expenses of this procedure. He told me to ask the doctor for the same as we were not having much savings.

I rushed to the doctor again and asked about the expenses, and I was surprised to know that the whole procedure was done at free of cost. It happens because of some donations received on GlobalGiving. We underwent the procedure and now it’s been 3 months, I am living my life, Happily, Healthy and without complications.

Thank you to all Donors who help poor families.

Dear Donors, It would have very difficult for us to reach and serve the underprivileged area without your support. To serve in every hard to reach area, we would require your support. Many women like Archana are still waiting to understand their health rights for taking correct decision if they informed timely with adequate knowledge and possible way to choose the Family Planning Services. They also have the right to live a respectful life. Through this project, HLFPPT is enabling a caring environment for these women and couples.

About the Project:

Since 2016, HLFPPT is helping poor couples in Uttar Pradesh, (UP-India) to avail easy access to Family Planning Methods through our Network of MerryGold Hospitals. These Hospitals are well equipped with trained and qualified doctors, Counsellors and Merry Tarang Workers (MTWs), also known as Front line health workers (FLHW). These MTWs are well versed with the local community, having detailed information about the poor families, who need family planning methods.

We would like to thank our GlobalGiving donors for providing continuous support to our Project “Poor Couples to Access Family Planning”. Your kind contributions are giving them (Married Couples) a chance to make informed decisions about their Sexual and Reproductive Health.

In addition to the above, this is just a matter of fact that, all donations made towards this project may not be released by GlobalGiving due to some administrative reasons. In a couple of months, service to disburse the fund will get back to normal.
