“Hum Padhe Likehe hain, Humko malum hai, jyada baccha, Shehat ko nuksan karta hai” (I am educated and I know, more children is harmful to Health)- An Empowered Benificiery from Rural India
My Story, My words !!!
" Humko bahut ladna pada, koi maan hi nhi raha tha ki hum permanent sterilisation karwane jaa rahe hain. Lekin humko hamra adhikar pata tha, is liye bhir gaye aur hamra sath diya marry Tarang didi ne" (I had to fight a lot. Nobody was agreeing to support my decision of Permanent Sterilisation. But, I knew my rights, that’s why I stood with my decision along with the support of Merry Tarang Didi)
This is not just a simple story; this is an extraordinary testimonial of Rukuni, hailing from rural village of Bihar called Jagdishpur, District Ballia. Her education makes her more empowered towards knowing and taking stand for the right things. That’s why she decided to undergo with permanent method of Family Planning i.e, Sterilisation just after her second child.
Our Merry Tarang Workers (MTWs) working in these local villages are the prime sources of information regarding any Family Planning Products and also the only reliable person for such good success stories happening around their villages.
Earlier, Mrs. Rukuni was not sure about permanent sterilization. Before the procedure, she was having many doubts - whether it is safe or not. It may be costly. What if I conceive even after Sterilisation? These questions were in her mind, since the birth of her second child.
Her health was also not supportive in terms of taking proper care of both the children (One Boy & One Girl). Her husband, Mr. Raajdeep (Name Changed) was the sole bread-winner of family. She also had to support her husband by making wise decisions at every home front. Therefore, this decision was also important to her.
Our MTW Mrs. Meera answered all her queries regarding permanent method for Family Planning and this service can be availed free of cost at Merry Gold Hospitals. Meera told Rukuni about the Global Giving Project which allows rural poor women to access Family Planning services at the designated hospital free of cost. These services can be Free Counselling regarding Spacing Methods, Permanent Sterilisation, Contraceptive choices or Male NSV.
After her successful operation, she is very happy and much relaxed. She had won her battle to live a healthy and respectful life. Initially, her family was not agree with her decision, but after the counselling taken by MTW and doctor, they too realized that this would be the best for their Daughter in Law.
Like Rukuni, many other poor women are living in far-flung areas of rural India without any information and proper guidance regarding Family Planning products and services. They also have the right to live a respectful life. By making them informed about right choice of FP products, HLFPPT is enabling a caring environment for these women and couples.
Dear Friends, Supporters and Donors,
Since 2016, HLFPPT is helping poor couples in Uttar Pradesh, (UP-India) to avail easy access to Family Planning Methods through our Network of MerryGold Hospitals. These Hospitals are well equipped with trained and qualified doctors, Counsellors and Merry Tarang Workers (MTWs), also known as Front line health workers (FLHW). These MTWs are well versed with the local community, having detailed information about the poor families, who need family planning methods.
We would like to thank our GlobalGiving donors for providing continuous support to our Project “Poor Couples to Access Family Planning”. Your kind contributions are giving them a chance to make informed decisions about their Sexual and Reproductive Health.
As we are running short of funds, we need your help to support the project. If you are a one-time donor, you may please choose Monthly Donation towards this project, which will enable us to provide support to the underprivileged community on a sustained basis.
