By Andria Falk | European Patron of Tiba Africa Foundation
Thank you for continuing to support our Tiba Africa Foundation projects. We would like to share with you about the success of our recent campaign to introduce creativity into Abundance School. Thanks to the generosity of donors such as yourself we managed to raise enough money for our creative day. We had planned an event at school but following the suggestion of one of our parents we decided to take all the children, yes all 75 of them, to visit a centre for the arts where they had the experience of meeting artists and craftspeople in their own work environment. This was an amazing adventure and new experience for our chldren: we sang together and some of us played the guitar; we learned how to carve out of wood, how to make beautiful batik pictures, how to make masks - and we danced. Some of us even visited a dentist's surgery that was part of the complex and learned how to take care of our teeth!
It was a wonderful and inspirational day. From this beginning we plan to have a creative day every month in school, each month inviting a different artist to share their skill and talent with the children. This way we see our children developng and learning how to access their creativity, have fun and become more confident. This may even give them a skill for the future to earn a living. Thank you so much for your support that made our dream become a reality.
We hope you will enjoy our photos of this event.
Please note that I am unusually posting this report on behalf of Daniel Marungu, Chief Executive of Tiba Africa Foundation. Unfortunately, Daniel is currently receiving treatment for liver cancer at Eldoret Government Hospital, 300 km from Nairobi, where there is no internet connection at the moment. I am pleased to tell you that Daniel is in good spirits and optimistic about his future wellbeing. If you would like to follow Daniel's progress with his health or make a donation to support his medical expenses please key in 'Daniel Marungu' on the Go Fund Me on line website.
While Daniel does have health insurance it unfortunately doesnt cover treatment for cancer.
Thank you very much.
Yours sincerely,
Andria
