It's Yuletide Again

By Ebele I. Chukwuka | Project Leader

IT'S YULETIDE AGAIN!

As our team members took turns to narrate to the children about the coming Christmas, they were excited at hearing and remembering the treat they got from us on the last Christmas season. They really remembered and asked several question on recounting how the driver drove past several herds of cows along the way to the amusement park. They recounted how they interacted with other children and asking if we could get same group of children for this year's yuletide. We explained that it may not be definitely so to their suggestions that we should set out this early to search and invite those of their mates. It dawned on us that this is a huge task.

As we proceeded, a child was tested by asking him to tuck in his shirt. He tried removing his belt with much effort when some aide came forward to do that for him. He continued soon after and nicely tucked in his shirt. We asked the other pupils to clap for him, at this time, they all competed to show how to tuck in their shirts. The girls stared and wished they could be asked to do that.

GAINING DECENCY

In our usual manner of inspecting the children's domentary, we got impressed that the senior pupils had improved in arranging their cubicles tidily all by themselves. The washed and ironed clothes were separated from the "wash us" clothes. Very impressive to learn that they've learnt the difference between a worn cloth and a clean cloth. For certainty, we asked a pupil the difference between the two. He explained that well to us. Recall that the idea of having a basket for dirty clothes was introduced by one of our volunteers late last year. They're now conversant with decency which gives us all joy. We're glad that donors like you also would be.

PLANNING AHEAD

We have noted down the need to provide them with modern internet gaming. This will enable the children to learn and cath up other children. The fad and economic value of playing game cannot be over emphasized. There are games played with computer in which two separate at separate places could play together.

This modern internet game would go a long way to boost the interaction and psychological well being of these students. We plan to install a Router for internet in the school to enhance internet gaming and internet learning soon.

Our beneficiaries remain thankful and hopeful. We and other stakeholders remain grateful to supporters, donors and teachers who help in making life worth it for these mentally and physically challenged children.

HARMATTAN NOW.

We are in a season of dry weather known as harmattan season and it has a lot of influence on our beneficiaries. This is the season when there is endemic flu for children. So, we are increasing supply of vitamin drugs and supplements to prevent them from having cough and associated diseases. We also have to need more blankets for the children because it is unbearably cold at nights. Drinking water has to be doubly cross checked before consumption. We have to increase the care on our beneficiaries not to allow them get injury because it's takes longer time for injuries to heal under this weather.

Harmattan is a known weather of variables in my local community so, we are getti

ng ready for it.
