A Silent Revolution - Helping the helpless

Two teams of two teachers each were sent to the remote districts of Bihar to select musahar (rat-eaters) children for admission in the pre-school class in April 2013, being the beginning of the academic year 2013-14. Fifty students have been selected from musahar ghettoes in really remote and backward villages. The idea being to create catalysts of change in as many musahar ghettoes as possible. The new admissions shall be reporting at the residential school at Patna in the 1^st week of April 2013. With this the numbers of students in the school would be 325.

Shoshit Seva Sangh featured in a special episode of the most popular reality show, Kaun Banega Crorepati (who will become a millionaire) in India conducted by the Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan. The student of the residential school run by SSS won Rs.25 lakhs in the quiz contest which he has donated towards the construction of the school building. The construction work has  already commenced and, hopefully, will be completed by 2015. The KBC show which is watched by millions of Indians has helped in generating awareness about Shoshit Seva Sangh in a big way in India and also among the Indian diaspora abroad. As in the past the local branch of the HSBC sponsored the Republic Day celebrations at the residential school on 26^th January 2013. The students of the school, Shoshit Samadhan Kendra, participated along with the staff and guests from HSBC with gusto. 

The work on the foundation of the proposed school building on 2.13 acres of land is now in full swing. The total built-up area of the proposed school building is 54200 sqft. The school when constructed will house 500 children in residence and shall have all the facilities mandated by the Central Board of Secondary Education of India. The estimated cost of construction is 111.50 million INR.
