Our community lost their free workout space in Athens last year. After seven months of searching, we've finally found the PERFECT space to call our new home in Athens; a new gym for YSR that is bigger, better and bolder than anything we've had before. The space is AMAZING, and there are many others interested to take it. So we need your help to secure this new space before it's turned into another Airbnb. Please support us!
At the end of last year, someone reported the YSR Athens gym. Following a long legal struggle, we ended up shutting down, all because they didn't appreciate our free, open model that accepts all athletes regardless of their background. We've spent the last seven months searching for a welcoming space where the YSR community in Athens can feel a sense of belonging . It's been challenging to find not only an affordable space, but also a building owner who agrees with our mission.
We have found an incredible space that is bigger, better and more perfect than we could have ever imagined. Right now it's an empty shell, but we can see the incredible potential it has to be a warm, inviting place for the community to gather. In our minds, we are already imagining where to put the tatami mats, where we will hold our Muay Thai and parkour classes, where we can share a coffee or tea, and where to paint some beautiful, colorful murals. Can you imagine it too? (we tried to help!)
If we secure enough funds, we can really invest in this space, and make it a welcoming place for all! We will make the space colorful, and we'll attract athletes from all backgrounds across Athens to join together and participate side-by-side in Taekwondo, Yoga, Pilates, bodybuilding and so many other sports. Long-term, supporting this project will mean a free, accessible gym open to all in Athens, into 2027 and beyond. Together, we can make it happen!
