Dear Supporters and Partners,
We are excited to share another major milestone in our journey toward making emergency maternal healthcare fully operational at Rukundo Medical Polyclinic. Following the successful completion and official Ministry of Health validation of our maternity unit's new operating room, we have focused our efforts over the past three months on resolving a fundamental operational prerequisite: securing a continuous and reliable power supply. Thanks to your dedicated support, we successfully acquired and installed a high-capacity solar energy system for the extension. Uninterrupted power is a life-saving necessity for surgical lighting, sterilization units, and newborn support systems, and this new installation ensures that grid power outages will never compromise critical obstetric care or delay emergency procedures.
With our physical infrastructure fully built, validated, and now powered by clean energy, we are focusing all our momentum on the final phase: The Medical Equipment Phase. To transform this newly powered surgical wing into a fully functional sanctuary capable of performing emergency C-sections on-site, we must now procure specialized medical tools. Our immediate fundraising priorities include securing an anesthesia machine, a specialized operating table, high-precision surgical lighting, industrial sterilization equipment, and four neonatal incubators to protect vulnerable newborns.
Securing this solar energy foundation brings us one step closer to opening our doors for emergency C-sections and eliminating high-risk transfers for mothers in critical distress. Every milestone achieved from laying the first bricks to powering the operating room has been possible because you chose to stand with us. As we enter this final equipment push to bring the surgical wing into immediate operation, your continued partnership remains our greatest strength in our mission to save 2,300 precious lives in Burundi.
With deep appreciation,
Appolinaire Ndayisenga
