Dear A Life A Time donors,
Happy Chinese New Year and wishing you and your family a prosperous and healthy year of the Monkey! We want to first thank you for your continued support in our efforts to help orphaned and impoverished children in China who suffer from congenital illnesses or severe trauma. During the past three months, between December 2015 and February 2016, with the money from our many generous donors on both our A Life A Time and GlobalGiving websites, we were able to provide assistance to a total of 9 children and one foster home in China!
For detailed information on the uses of the donations we have received via the GlobalGiving platform, please visit the following link: http://www.alifeatime.org/cn/help/donation_list.aspx?id=761

In addition to our continued work with children in China, we are also proud to introduce you our recently established Boston Trauma Fund (the “Fund”).
Since 2007, under the efforts of volunteers, some of the unfortunate children from China who have suffered severe trauma have had the opportunity to receive free treatments at Shriners Hospitals for Children – mostly in Boston. All of these children came from families with minimal financial resources. Even though the medical treatments are free, these families are still not able to afford the related travel and living expenses.
Volunteers and donors in the Boston area have helped these children through raising funds and taking care of their living needs, such as providing transportation and helping with groceries while they are in the United States.
A Life A Time Foundation has been providing financial support to these children as well. In October 2015, A Life A Time decided to establish the Boston Trauma Fund. All proceeds from the Fund are provided to these children and their accompanying family members to cover their travel expenses to the United States and their living expenses during their stays.
On October 25, 2015, A Life A Time Foundation, American Youth Leadership Foundation (South Boston Branch), Newton Chinese Language School and donors from Boston Beijing Forum organized the first fundraising for the Fund. The event was a success and the Fund received nearly $3,000 in donations. Liu Jinlei, who traveled to Boston in November 2015 for medical treatments became the first child provided assistance by the Fund.
Between November and February, two more fundraising events were held raising an additional $7,000.
A Life A Time is very fortunate to be part of this great effort in helping children receive medical treatments in the Boston area. They are all fighters and we are excited to see them grow and change – not only in appearance in some cases, but also their personalities as they gain confidence and happiness.

We would like to use this opportunity to introduce you to three children who have visited Shriners Hospitals for Children – Boston in the past few years. After several years of treatments at Shriners Hospitals for Children, his condition has significantly improved. In December 2015, Shiwei, accompanied by his father, traveled to Boston for the sixth time to get treated.
