Dear Donor,
With the Coronavirus spreading in China since January and the cancellation of flights between the U.S. and China, the previously scheduled treatments for those children who were supposed to come to the U.S. needed to be delayed. Also, with tightening regulations in China, we have also temporarily stopped accepting aid applications from China (for details, please refer to our last quarterly report). During this quarter, we supported three children, whose applications were approved before this suspension on new applications.
Fifteen-year-old Zihan suffers from third degree burns resulting from a fire four years ago. 80% of her body was severely burned. After more than 20 surgeries, Zihan continues to suffer from burn scar contracture, especially on her face, neck and joints in both hands. In January, Zihan was admitted to a hospital for another round of surgeries. A Life A Time sent $2,239 to support her medical treatments.
Eight-year-old Xiaoran was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia when she was three. She went through three years of treatments but her leukemia came back in 2018. Xiaoran’s doctor recommended she undergo a bone marrow transplant. A donor has been found and her family is raising money to pay for the procedure. A Life A Time sent $520 to support Xiaoran’s medical expenses.
Fifteen-year-old Xinyu has suffered from lymphoid hyperplasia. Since 2007, she has been transferred to multiple hospitals to seek various treatments. In 2009, her condition got worse and she developed a severe skin rash, with some of the wounds festering. Following her treatments, which did keep her wounds under control, her right hand suffered from Dupuytren’s contracture. Xinyu has had several surgeries to improve the condition in her hand, and she was admitted to a hospital again in March. A Life A Time transferred $746 to contribute to her medical expenses.
We appreciate your continued support and hope you and your family stay safe and healthy.
Sincerely,
A Life A Time Foundation
