Dear Donors,
We wish you and your family the best during this holiday season and a happy and healthy new year in 2020. We also want to thank you for all of your support that enables us to help so many children in need in China. It has been over 11 years since A Life A Time was first founded in August 2008. Since our inception, our mission has been to help orphaned and impoverished children in China suffering from congenital illnesses and traumatic injuries (such as burns) by covering their medical expenses in part or in full. We also provide a network of available medical providers through our ongoing collaboration with both local and specialized hospitals. In addition, since October 2015, we established the Boston Trauma Fund to provide financial support to children who have the opportunity to come to America to receive free medical treatment at Shriners Hospital for Children, located in Boston. Those children accepted under this program have suffered severe trauma but come from families in China with minimal financial resources.
In 2019, A Life A Time helped a total of 47 children with approximately $118,000 in donations. Most of these donations were used to help children in China cover their medical expenses, with the remaining portion used to support the Angel’s Home, an orphanage, and the children who were able to visit Shriners Hospital for Children for treatment. Without your ongoing support over more than a decade, we would not have been able to achieve what we have. A Life A Time Foundation is run solely by volunteers, which allows us to allocate nearly all donations to the children who need our help. Our volunteers always try to find the time necessary to support the children we take on, even when our personal life commitments make it difficult to balance responsibilities. Every child that we have helped has been our motivation to get us this far.
In 2019, following certain changes to regulations and policies established in China, we began to notice certain difficulties in providing ongoing support to children in China. Unfortunately, the uncertainties these changes have caused will require us to temporarily stop accepting applications for support from China and designated donations towards any specially requested child starting in 2020. We will continue to run the Boston Trauma Fund since the donations can be used in America. However, we will continue to seek opportunities to help children who need to be treated in China and will re-accept applications when the situation in China allows.
Below is a summary of some children who were supported by the Boston Trauma Fund during 2019. For detailed information on each individual child we have helped, please visit: http://www.alifeatime.org/cn/projects/project_details.aspx?id=888
