Thanks to support from people like you, ALTSO's programs world-wide, including this project to help 40 children in Asia receive the gift of mobility, have treated nearly 2,000 children this year!
But, our work is far from done. In 2015 we received requests to treat nearly 4,000 children in some of the poorest countries in the world. We are so thankful in your partnership this year to help us treat nearly 2,000 of those children, but we strive to do even better in 2016.
Unfortunately, most other humanitarian aid groups overlook children with limb disabilities as they are not categorized as having a life-threatening situation. However, we know that in places like Cambodia and Pakistan, without the ability to walk or ride a bike, a child will never be able to travel the average 3-5 miles to and from school each day. This forces one parent to stay home with the child instead of work to increase the family income, and leaves the child in a desperate situation where there are no opportunities for them to turn to.
The sad reality is that many of ALTSO's patients would turn to dangerous work like street begging if they were to go untreated - but we can continue to change that reality!
Join with us to kick off 2016 with a strong start. Our hope is that we are able to fully fund this Global Giving project to give mobility to 40 children in Asia this spring so that we are able to begin a new project and treat even more children than in previous years.
Wishing you peace and happiness in the new year!
With much gratitude,
The ALTSO Team
