We have been working on Diana’s house for the last months.
Properly deep stone foundations were laid.
Then the adobe was used to build the walls. This was important since Diana herself worked in the adobe manufacturing process. A large group of San Pedro’s families participated in this process by working the earth, shoveling and mixing it to feed the large adobe press located in a plot in the town’s center. This was a very successful group project that the locals organized.
Due to the proximity of the Popocatepetl volcano, we used concrete and steel to reinforce the corners of the house and the area where the roof will be installed. The volcano’s exhalations are common in the area and they can impact the house’s structure.
Still the roof has to be done as well as the interiors, electricity and floor.
We will keep working, with your help, until it is finished.
