Sunlight in Janjevo/a
![]()
After a morning working with the children in summer school at Janjevo/Janjevë, my son and I had the opportunity to retreat from the heat and talk with a young mother and her children supported by the Helping 6 Families In Need fund. They told us how life is not easy—of the struggle to provide the basics of food, clothing, and hygiene for their little ones. Her conversation carried the weight of daily worry and when asked how the support of The Ideas Partnership has helped, the mother said simply:
“It helped me a lot, especially the nappies for my small children.”
The food and hygiene packages you’ve helped provide do not last from delivery to delivery, but when they do arrive, they bring enormous relief. We asked what she would most hope for in future packages her answer was immediate: “Nappies.”For a mother of two very small children, the youngest just a babe in arms, that one essential is making the difference between despair and reassurance.
As she gave us a message to be shared with those who give to the fund, her voice softened:“I would like to thank them from the bottom of my heart—and mostly for the support of my children.”
It is a reminder that your donations do not only supply food and hygiene. They say to a struggling mother: “You are not alone.” Without these packages, she said, “Life would be too hard”.
Whilst volunteering with The Ideas Partnership, I read a line in my book that has stayed with me:“Your days are numbered. Use them to throw open the windows of your soul to the sun.”
Your giving does exactly that. It opens windows of hope and light in places where walls of hardship might otherwise close in. It allows families like this one to feel the warmth of care and the reassurance of dignity, even in their hardest days. Because of your generosity, a mother can bathe her children, wash their clothes, and tuck them into bed with food in their bellies. She can feel proud. She can whisper a prayer of thanks that someone, somewhere, cares about her children’s future. Your kindness is keeping families alive—and keeping hope alive too.
Thank you for opening the windows and showing Ramiana the sun.
