Case Study: Affordable and Timely Diagnostic Care for Rural Women
Anjana, a 70-year-old, depends on regular health monitoring to manage her diabetes while continuing her daily agricultural work. As a mother of two and an active farmer, maintaining her health is essential for her livelihood and wellbeing. Due to her diabetic condition, Anjana requires monthly fasting and post-meal blood sugar tests along with regular medication. To manage her condition, she visits the blood testing laboratory at Mann Deshi Healthcare Center every month for diagnostic services.Through the laboratory services, Anjana is able to access timely and affordable blood sugar testing close to her community. She highlighted that earlier diagnostic centres were more expensive and often delayed reports, making regular monitoring difficult. In contrast, the conter's laboratory provides reports on time at significantly lower costs, reducing both financial burden and stress associated with managing a chronic illness.Regular access to affordable diagnostics has enabled Anjana to consistently monitor her diabetes and continue her farming activities with greater confidence and stability. Her experience reflects the importance of accessible rural healthcare services in improving health outcomes and supporting the everyday lives of elderly women in farming communities.
Case Study: Promoting Preventive Healthcare among School Students
Harshada, a 14-year-old student studying in Grade 9, benefited from a school health screening initiative conducted by the Mann Deshi Foundation Healthcare Centre. As part of the initiative, the healthcare team organised a free CBC (Complete Blood Count) and blood group testing camp at the school, ensuring that all students had access to essential preventive health check-ups. Through the camp, Harshada and her fellow students received detailed reports that helped them understand important health indicators such as blood cell counts, haemoglobin levels, and blood groups. The initiative not only increased awareness about personal health among students but also encouraged early identification of potential health concerns. By bringing healthcare services directly to schools, the Mann Deshi Healthcare Centre helped make preventive healthcare more accessible to rural students and reduced barriers to essential health screenings.Harshada expressed appreciation for the continued efforts of the healthcare centre in organising regular camps and introducing new initiatives that support the wellbeing of students and promote health awareness within the school community.
Case Study: Relief and Recovery through Accessible Healthcare
Sushila, a 71-year-old mother of five, spent many years working in agricultural fields, often in physically demanding conditions. Over time, continuous bending and manual labour led to severe back and neck pain, significantly affecting her daily life and mobility. After learning about the services at Mann Deshi's Healthcare Center from a neighbour, Sushila visited the facility for treatment. At the center, she underwent blood tests and X-rays, which were conducted quickly and at an affordablecost, making healthcare accessible despite her financial limitations.Following diagnosis, doctors identified issues related to age-related bone degeneration in her lower back and neck and recommended a 10-day physiotherapy course along with medication. Sushila was also suffering from multiple fatty lumps across her body. Previous treatments elsewhere had provided little relief, but after receiving specialised care and treatment at the hospital, she experienced a noticeable reduction in the lumps and associated discomfort.Upon completing the physiotherapy sessions, Sushila reported nearly 90% improvement in her back and neck pain. The combination of timely diagnosis, affordable diagnostic services, physiotherapy, and continued medical support significantly improved her physical wellbeing and quality of life.Today, Sushila expresses deep gratitude for the care she received, highlighting how accessible and community-based healthcare services helped her regain comfort, mobility, and confidence within a short period of time.
