Over the past quarter, the healthcare programme reached 2,030 community members, of whom 54.04% were women, reinforcing the programme’s focus on accessible and gender-responsive healthcare. As part of the Eye Care for Children initiative, 251 school-going children were screened for vision-related issues, and 33 children were identified as requiring and recommended corrective eyeglasses. These interventions aim to ensure early detection, timely treatment, and improved quality of life for both adults and children in the community.
Case Study 1: Restoring Health Through Affordable Care
Vidya, a 41-year-old woman employed in a government hospital, had been experiencing persistent back pain along with low haemoglobin levels for several months. The condition began to affect her daily routine and overall well-being. It was through a fellow villager that she first learned about the Mann Deshi Community Health Center and decided to seek treatment there.
Upon her visit, the medical team recommended blood tests and an X-ray to better understand her condition. Vidya was able to undergo these diagnostic tests at a very nominal cost, and the reports were made available promptly, allowing for immediate medical intervention. Based on the findings, doctors prescribed a month-long course of medication to address both her back pain and low haemoglobin levels.
Within a month of treatment, Vidya experienced a significant recovery. Her back pain reduced by nearly 90%, and her haemoglobin levels showed marked improvement. Reflecting on her experience, she shared, “Within just one month, I felt almost completely relieved. The treatment was effective, affordable, and timely.”
Encouraged by the results, Vidya continues to source her monthly blood supplements from the Mann Deshi Community Health Center, noting that even ongoing medication remains affordable and easily accessible. She expressed deep gratitude for the quality of care provided, especially given the low cost and community-focused approach.
Case Study 2: Relief for a Farmer Balancing Work and Health
Kalpana, a farmer and mother of two, spends long hours working in the fields, which requires constant bending and physical exertion. Over time, this strenuous routine led to severe back pain. Kalpana was already visiting the Mann Deshi Community Health Center for the management of her diabetes when her worsening back pain prompted her to seek further consultation.
After a thorough examination, the doctor advised an X-ray of her lower back to assess the cause of the pain. Like many others in the community, Kalpana was able to access this diagnostic service at a low cost, and the report was provided without delay. Based on the diagnosis, the doctor recommended a 10-day physiotherapy course using specialized equipment available at the centre.
Kalpana diligently completed the full course of physiotherapy. By the end of the treatment, her back pain had reduced by nearly 90%, bringing immense relief and enabling her to return to her daily farming activities with greater ease. She remarked, “I could feel a real difference after the treatment. The pain reduced significantly, and the expenses were very minimal.”
Kalpana expressed her appreciation for the comprehensive care she received, highlighting how affordable physiotherapy services at the community level made a meaningful difference to her health and livelihood.
