Dear Red Siskin Friends,
Today we have some wonderful news. The Red Siskins at the center have just begun their breeding season, and we are very happy and excited.
We use a flashlight to examine each egg laid in the nest to verify that it is fertile. If we can see those blood vessels, it’s a sign that a new life has just begun.
Each female will lay 2 to 5 eggs and will incubate them for approximately 13 days.
We’ll soon bring you news of this year’s first chicks.
Thank you for your support!
With gratitude,
The Red Siskin Initiative team
