Rajasthan, India. Thousands of girls inherit HIV at birth. From the poorest caste, at the age of 6 or 7 they see their parents die from the virus. They do not appear in any registry and the rest of their families disowns them... they are invisible. Alone, with nothing, hungry and afraid, they wander the city until the virus destroys their immune system and they fall ill in the ditch of some road. Help us giving them a Home, Medical care, Feeding, and Schooling... Help us giving them a LIFE...
Through this Program, which is more than a Project for it is continuosly going on, we have protected for more than five years around 120 girls, and created about 35 new places for street girls. These girls now have a so low CD4 count level (HIV level indicator) that they can have a normal life, for the HIV that they have is almnost impossible to transmit. They can have friends, go to school, have a family and even have children.
We have also arranged an agreement with a Spanish online University (UNIR) to provide them with the possibility to study Online Marketing, so they can have an official recognized university grade and get a work. It is really very important to include them back into society, so they will become references, living examples that HIV is something you can live with, that you can have a fully dignified anf happy life. Examples that will fight the impending stigma against HIV infeected people. This is our aim.
We also send International Volunteers to help these girls; the contact with them teaches the girls a lot, and Volunteers give them warmth and support.
Hope you like this info. For any other, please get in tocuh with us. We will be happy to hear from you, either in english or spanish.
