When Martina was four years old, she loved books — but books did not love her back.
Her parents would sit beside her at night, turning pages filled with colorful illustrations and written words. They tried to explain the stories, pointing, improvising gestures, searching for ways to make meaning visible. Martina watched carefully, but the magic of the story always felt slightly out of reach.
Martina is deaf. Her world is visual. But most of the information around her — at school, in books, on television — moves through spoken language.
Everything changed the first time her family opened one of our videobooks in Sign Language.
Instead of watching someone speak, Martina watched someone sign. The story unfolded in her language — expressive, alive, direct. She did not need translation. She did not need to guess. She understood. She laughed at the funny parts. She anticipated the ending. She asked to watch it again.
For her parents, it was the first time they saw their daughter fully inside a story.
This is why Opening the World to Deaf Children Through Sign Technology exists.
Our platform creates a digital space where deaf children like Martina can access stories, guidance, and everyday knowledge directly in Sign Language. Families find practical videos about communication and development. Teachers access visual materials they can use in their classrooms. Children encounter culture, imagination, and information in a language that belongs to them.
Technology allows us to reach families across Argentina — including those who have never met another deaf child, never had access to specialized resources, and never seen stories performed in Sign Language online.
Every new video filmed, every resource uploaded, and every month of platform hosting brings another child closer to that moment of recognition: This is for me. I understand.
Your support makes that moment possible.
TOGETHER, WE ARE NOT JUST CREATING CONTENT. WE ARE OPENING THE WORLD.
