Youth Achievement Awards are often the first qualification or award a young person will ever receive. More than 150,000 young people aged 14-17 are not in mainstream education. They often leave the education system with nothing to show for the years they are at school and Youth Achievement Awards help them begin to rebuild their CVs, their skills and their lives so they can learn vital key skills that will help them find employment or further training.
Helping young people return to education through non-formal learning via the Youth Achievement Awards - helps them return to education, training or employment and build their skills. Helping young people build the skills to find meaningful work helps reduce unemployment and help steer vulnerable young people from criminality and dangerous activities.
The funding for this micro project will be used to support a young person and youth worker to deliver a Youth Achievement Award in an area of interest to the vulnerable young person. This will be done in non-formal learning environments such as youth clubs in our network.
By providing young people with meaningful learning opportunities that are tailored to their needs they can be re-engaged in learning and eventually find work. These young people have often struggled with mainstream learning and need extra support to find their path in life. By providing suitable flexible learning we can help them make a successful transition to adulthood and ensure that they do not remain long term unemployed wasting their talents and costing society in many ways.
