Your support will help fund: 30+ hours of yoga and mindfulness workshops for refugee communities; Yoga mats and supplies to support neurodiverse learners; Trauma-informed resources and content development to specifically cater to the various; Cultural needs of women and girls; 5 days of outdoor yoga programming for children and youth; and on-the-ground holistic wellness and play based support for families living in the camp.
In Greece, new arrivals face illegal pushbacks, overcrowded camps, and denial of basic rights. Many endure violence, poverty, and neglect, while state support falls short. Organisations like Yoga and Sport with Refugees step in to provide safety, dignity, and hope, offering the care and community refugees and asylum seekers are otherwise denied.
While this systematic problem cannot be solved by a single organisation, Yoga and Sport with Refugees at least provides a space for our community to train, feel empowered, safe and respected. Your donation will pay for space rental, maintenance costs, coach salaries, equipment purchases and fun activities/events to instill a sense of community spirit in Athens and Lesvos.
Our project relies on a participatory and inclusive model where refugees are encouraged to take the lead. Most years, we have at least 100 coaches with a refugee background hosting sports classes. Our long-term vision contributes to the integration of underprivileged people, providing them the means to do so in Europe and professional opportunities. We are committed to confront systemic bias, discrimination and injustice towards refugees by focusing on the root causes of the problem.
