Challenge

A Lion's Heart are fundraising to help the animals in Taiz Zoo in Yemen. The zoo has been in the middle of a war zone since 2016. The zoo has communicated that one of the things the animals urgently need are new water basins to prevent the some of the animals from walking through and cross contamination and to prevent bacteria and algae. Drainage valve will be added and made easier for the employee to clean more often and safely.

Solution

The project will enable us to buy new water basins for the animals at the zoo. This will help with their health and wellbeing and help keep them in better health. The micro-project is looking to raise $1,450 to fund a total of 18 basins in all for these animals: the leopards the lions the hyenas the monkeys the cats the dogs the donkeys the peacocks. The zoo director and ALH president, a wildlife biologist, have worked together on material and options that are available in Taiz Yemen.

Long-Term Impact

Yemen will become the template for animal welfare, protection, and preservation of several species now facing extinction. This will provide jobs, education, and even tourist revenue. Instead of Taiz being known as one of the worst zoos in the world, it will become a jewel and a sense of pride to all Yemeni. From children to adults, it will inspire the people themselves to take part in conservation efforts and animal welfare. This permanent change will span generations and to generations to come.
