For this project, Bridge to Ukraine is partnering with Charitable Foundation "Patients of Ukraine" (http://patients.org.ua/en/) to raise funds for the purchase of personal protective equipment (PPE), ventilators, portable x-ray machines, and coronavirus tests in Ukraine. With the nearly $142,000 already raised, "Patients of Ukraine" has purchased 19,150 ventilators for 39 hospitals around Ukraine, 726 gowns for doctors in Kyiv and Zhytomyr, and over $7000 of PPE for doctors in Sumy region.
Seeing the overwhelmed hospitals and ICUs of big US cities - one of the richest countries in the world, we understand the vital necessity to help Ukraine in their battle against the pandemic. Today, all doctors in Ukraine need personal protective equipment (PPE) to avoid contracting the virus while helping patients. Most hospitals also badly need expensive equipment such as ventilators, x-ray machines, and coronavirus tests for patients to increase the likelihood of survival.
The funds raised will be used to buy large batches of protection for doctors and coronavirus tests for patients showing symptoms and after recovery. X-ray machines and ventilators are expensive and essential for the diagnosis of COVID-19. "Patients of Ukraine" will ensure that the equipment will go to the hospitals where it is most in demand.
The funds we raise could be used to buy over 1000 ventilators as well as large batches of PPE and coronavirus tests for hospitals around Ukraine that are identified to have the most need. This equipment could save many lives throughout Ukraine.
