RAP's programs are finishing strong! Here's an update of the latest as the semester comes to a close:
YouthLEAP
The young people in our Youth LEAP groups tackled a number of issues in their communites this semester, including street harassment, relationship violence, the school-to-prison pipeline, sexual health, and more. Check out some of the photos of their amazing impact projects in this post!
Young Fatherhood Initiative (YFI)
The young fathers of YFI are wrapping up their busy semester of advocacy after completing help desks and presentations at a number of community partner sites, including Brownsville Action Center, the Alex House, and Kingsborough Community College! They also celebrated their hard work this year with a transformative outdoor leadership retreat on the Appalachian Trail, where they tested their limits and their teamwork. Check out the photo below and our social media post here!
Youth Policy Fellowship (YPF)
The youth fellows of the inaugural YPF cohort presented their individual advocacy projects to friends, family, and community members at the LGBT Center on May 3rd. Their powerful work centered around issues such as domestic violence, police interactions, and immigration status in post-Trump society. We're very happy that we don't have to say goodbye to these fellows just yet as we are honoring them and their incredible accomplishments at our annual event on June 19th, 10 Years of Resilience: Honoring Leaders of Today! (p.s. if you're in NYC and would like to join us, you can find more info here!)
What's next...
We're excited to further honor the young people from all of our programs with our Stories of Resilience video series, which launches on June 8th. Mark your calendar and follow RAP on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to virtually meet some of our current young advocates and alumni. You can hear from them directly about the work they've done with RAP as well as their hopes for RAP as we celebrate our 10th year of youth-led work. With your support, RAP is planning to expand our programs to serve twice as many of New York City's low-income youth, and extend and enrich our Youth Policy Fellowship, Young Fatherhood Initiative, and alumnae services. Keep an eye out as more updates come your way!
Thank you for your support and partnership!
