“Transcendental Meditation has helped me in school by giving me more energy to do my school work. I also don't feel as stressed as I used to. I feel really good about myself because I'm not as tired as I used to be, especially in school, and I like feeling good about myself. I feel very happy thanks to TM.”
-- Jade, an indigenous student who learned Transcendental Meditation (TM) at Academia Semillas Del Pueblo School
Thank you for your support of the David Lynch Foundation’s indigenous student outreach. This is one of the more complicated programs, where we truly need the proper funding in order to accomplish our goals. We aim to eventually pair with many more Native American national and community initatives to enable indigenous people the resources necessary to thrive. We know how much Native American wisdom and culture can enrich our society, and believe that Transcendental Meditation is a viable link for interconnectivity and progress.
Through your generous support, the David Lynch Foundation has taught 15 Native American students at Academia Semillas Del Pueblo School Transcendental Meditation – a cost-effective, non-religious technique for reducing stress and enhancing intelligence and creativity.
All of us at the David Lynch Foundation are thrilled that we had the necessary resources to teach these indigenous youth this invaluable tool. A new study, published in the June 2013 issue of the journal Education (Vol. 133, No. 4), found that meditating students were less likely to dropout of school or enter prison and more likely to be accepted to post-secondary institutions.
Of the young people described above, approximately:
Looking forward, we anticipate teaching an additional 50+ students at Academia Semillas Del Pueblo School during the remainder of the 2014 school year. Additionally, many of the family members with students meditating at school have expressed interest in learning TM. We are exploring fundraising opportunities to support this expansion.
Again, THANK YOU.
This is all made possible because of the generosity of people like you.
