We wish to sincerely thank you for your support which has helped to fund Haitian students, allowing them to realize their full academic potential and study towards a degree.
University of the People started our commitment in Haiti in a 2010 Clinton Global Initiative meeting where President Shai Reshef pledged to give scholarships to 250 Haitian students to study at UoPeople. As the project developed, the establishment of local computer centers and the creation of partnerships throughout Haiti, in addition to the academic scholarships, have ensured that these 250 Haitian students can successfully study and complete their academic degrees.
University of the People was created with a very clear mission: to open the gates of higher education, for ALL individuals worldwide, regardless of financial, social or geographic constraints. It is our belief that higher education is a right for all, and not a privilege for a few.
We have succeeded in cutting down almost the entire cost of higher education with our innovative online tuition-free education model. All we ask from our students are minimal Exam Processing Fees. For students unable to afford even these nominal fees, we create a variety of scholarship and donation opportunities, such as this one, to help fund their studies.
