Unlocking children’s true potential
In December 2021, we launched a digital skills fundraising campaign, designed to fund ICT resources for our small school in rural Uganda.
Thanks to generous donations, we raised $1,839, allowing us to take significant steps towards unlocking our children's creativity through digital learning.
It is our aim at Sadhguru School to empower students to become changemakers. In their lessons, our children are beginning to use technology as a creative medium, opening the possibility of a lifetime of discovery and invention.
Our achievements so far
With this support, we have been able to offer weekly 1 hour ICT lessons to 39 students of years 4, 5 & 6, some of whom had not yet had a chance to use a computer before.
Issac and Warren, our trained IT teachers, have followed the Cambridge Curriculum to teach students to use software such as Microsoft Word and Excel, to create digital content, and to search the internet safely and confidently.
Along the way, the children have learned the computer literacy and logical reasoning skills to enter their futures with confidence and to drive forward change in their communities.
Warren shared with us that “So many of the children are keen to learn more about IT. As their confidence grows with time behind a computer, they are showing real promise”.
Our future goals
Our plan is to continue expanding our digital learning efforts here at Sadhguru School. We shall continue approaching friends to support and make this happen for the children.
By 2023, we hope to have a suite of 14 laptops to support class-based learning. This will require an estimated $3,500 in additional fundraising. Look out for updates on our next campaign and thank you for being a part of our first steps in this journey.
