Many students in Sierra Leone are eager to succeed but lack access to the academic support needed to keep up with challenging subjects and prepare for high-stakes national exams. For families facing financial hardship, private tutoring is not affordable. This microproject will provide after-school tutoring and targeted exam preparation, helping vulnerable students strengthen skills, build confidence, and stay on track for graduation and future opportunities.
In Sierra Leone, national exams determine whether students can advance to the next level of education and often shape their future. Without proper preparation, even capable and motivated students risk falling behind, failing, or dropping out. Many come from households with limited educational resources and no access to extra academic support, leaving them at a significant disadvantage. As a result, potential is lost, and opportunities for advancement are severely limited.
Through its established programs, Develop Africa will provide structured after-school tutoring and targeted exam preparation for students in need. Students will receive support in key subjects like math and English from trained instructors. These sessions reinforce learning, close knowledge gaps, and build practical exam skills. Beyond academics, the program also strengthens confidence, motivation, and belief in each student's ability to succeed.
This project goes beyond improving test scores-it helps unlock potential. Students who receive academic support are more likely to pass critical exams, stay in school, and pursue higher education or vocational training. Over time, they become more self-reliant, better prepared for employment, and able to support their families. By investing in their education today, we help shape a generation of capable, confident leaders driving lasting change in Sierra Leone.
