The LA Conservation Corps is a proud partner of the Greenstation. The Greenstation is an innovative electric landscaping equipment company dedicated to environmental quality and green jobs. For the last two years the Greenstation has provided internship opportunities to young adult corpsmembers. This year two corpsmember joined their team and one alumni corpsmember was hired as a greenstation employee.
Participants completed a three month internship with the Greenstation and gained customer service and entrepreneurial skills. They played a key role in the company as Customer Service and Logistics Specialists. Jude Gernon, Xavier Robinson assisted customers in their lawnmower purchase and exchange from a gas powered lawnmower to an electric mower. Each intern was trained to greet customers in a friendly manner, provide quality service, and be knowlegeable about the physical and evironmental benefits of the lawnmower. Jakkar Lewis, an alumni corpsmember and former Greenstation intern was hired during his second year with the company. Jakkar specializes in lawnmower sales and looks forward to working with the company next year.
The Greenstation is a proud partner of four air quality management districts: San Joaquin Valley, Yolo Solano, Mojave Desert, Antelope Valley. These agencies conduct annual lawn mower exchange programs allowing homeowners to trade in their gasoline powered lawn mower for a gas-free emission-free cordless electric lawn mower at drastically reduced prices. The Greenstation offered the Lawn N-1 and Lawn N-2 to qualified residetns of districts in an effort to help reduce noise levels and emissions. Pre-registration was required and quantities were limited to people who signed up ahead of time. Events took place during the weekend throughout Southern California. The Greenstation and LA Conservation Corps would like to thank the South Coast AQMD for sponsoring these incredible lawn mower exchange programs, reducing air pollution, and providing green employment opportunities for young adults.
