By Olivia Jones, Senior Manager | National Strategic Partnerships, Raising A Reader
Let us start by offering a heartfelt thank you to all of you who joined us with a donation over the holiday season and in recent weeks. Thanks to an overwhelming show of support from each of you we are able to begin 2015 strong and ready to share the vital gift of literacy with even more children and families this year.
STEM: Your visionary contribution to a vital new program
The response to our STEM fundraiser has been overwhelming. Our current total is $5,107 - that’s over 50 children who will participate in our new STEM programs in 2015.
50 children who, without your help, would just not have had this opportunity.
We’re excited to announce generous funding from a Bay Area partner will supplement what we raise through Global Giving and enable us to begin delivering to our first children and families on-schedule from the beginning of the 2015 school year.
When children participate in Raising A Reader they will receive over 100 books over the course of the year. But that’s not all! Families and communities participate in the program as well, and gradually parents begin to grow their own English and literacy skills, begin to visit their local library for the first time and are equipped to sustain the reading connection well beyond the life of the program.
We are now just over half way to our goal of $10,000 - what can you do to help?
Please share your generosity with friends and family – and on social media – to help us reach our goal before time runs out on March 20 2015. Join us on Twitter or Facebook, and find our collections on Pinterest.
With thanks again for your incredible and inspiring support for our nation’s children!
Yours in book sharing,
The Raising A Reader Team
