A driver's license is required for most living wage employment opportunities. This project will decrease citations and legal fees for young adults driving without a license. The LA Corps seeks to increase the number of young adults 18-24 year old licensed to drive in Los Angeles.
Driver's education leads a brighter future for job seekers. Your support provides funding to maintain the 30hour online Driver's education program and fund behind the wheel lessons for ten participants. The LA Corps partners with a local driving school. Participants complete online training and receive a personal driving instructor. A car is provided for the driving exam to ensure participants confidently pass the exam. With a driver's license they are now eligible for jobs requiring a license.
The LA Corps Transition program serves over 50 young men and women per year, directly decreasing the high rates of unemployment among young adults 18-24 years old and creating economic prosperity and stability that benefits present and future generations. Direct employment search and career support provide hope for participants and their families. Our goal is to increase employment and education opportunities and contribute to the economic advancement of young adults living in Los Angeles.
