A School Uniform has so many benefits for children from making them feel secure to opening up learning. However, life in a township means any funds a family have goes on food or power and a school uniform is a simple luxury they can't afford. We have partnered up with our Women Empowerment Program and they will hand make 121 school uniforms for our children costing $8.30 per Uniform this gives a good living wage of $2.50 per uniform to the women sewing and $5.80 for the materials needed
We are tackling a number of issues with this project as we are providing an income for newly graduate women from our community sewing program and we are making school uniforms that help children feel apart of a team/family, pride and prevents bullying. It is also a great safety element as children are associated to our school and are left alone walking around our township.
This project will make 121 school uniforms from age 7-12 students and giving them something they simply can't afford and at the same time we are providing a healthy living wage to women that make the uniforms. It is a great project bringing multiple initiatives together
We are upskilling a poor community and providing them with skills and support to tackle global issues themselves rather than relying on hand-outs.
