Thanks to your genersotiy, we will be delivering Raising A Reader with Exceptional Diversity to Kindergarten classrooms throughout the US for the 2017-18 school year. By introducing Special Needs concepts into the classroom early on, children become aware of other abilities, learn compassion, and ultimately make new friends.
With the funds raised from this microproject, we will bring books featuring characters with special needs to 3-4 classrooms serving 75 children in year one and up to 225 children by year five. All Raising A Reader books and materials are meant to last up to 5 years.
Books within this collection include topics such as, Autism, hearing loss, being wheelchair bound, and more. Each book contains a bookplate to show families – parents, caregivers, siblings, and extended family – how to share these concepts with their children.
Raising A Reader has reached more than 1.5 million children in 34 states. With your support, we can reach our goal of impacting twice as many children in all fifty states by 2020!
You truly are changing the lives of children and families we serve across the US.
Yours in book sharing,
The Raising A Reader Team
