Thank you for funding our Spay/Neuter Training and Camp!
The Worldwide Veterinary Services Team arrived at DAR on April 23rd for preparations for the training and camp which began on April 25th.
The first two weeks is the training portion on the camp. Our two vets (and 2 vet assistants) along with 4 additional vets are being trained in everything from intake protocols, to making spay kits, to proper cleaning/sterility protocols to learning how to perform spay/neuter while completing 100 surgeries.
Each evening there are additional lectures for learning that are implemented the next day.
The rest of the Team is Busy Catching Dogs, Feeding, Cleaning, etc
In order to make sure this program is a success, the rest of our staff (including office staff and management) is helping to catch the street dogs, feed them, help them in post op, and of course release them back to where they live once they are ready to go.
Luckily, because there are so many feeders in Dharamsala these days, most of the dogs can be hand caught with treats and chasing them down with nets is not needed.
Starting week 3, we will be catching, performing surgery on, and releasing a minimum of 200 dogs - hopefully more! In the meantime, we think Shweta and Veronica are having a lot of fun with all of the doggies they catch and get to play with. What do you think?
Thank you again for your incredibly generous donations to allow us to improve the street animal welfare in Dharamsala. To see the whole program in action with daily updates, please follow us on Social Media. Links below.
