We wanted to give you an update on Jacob and Bailey Bear. Bailey Bear is still in training for Jacob. Due to an issue with the original trainer, Jacob's family came to an agreement and purchased Bailey outright and is now working with a different local trainer to get Bailey Bear's skills up to where they need to be to pass public access. It isn't always a perfect process so we are grateful that Jacob and Bailey Bear were able to stay together as a team. There is quite a bond there and it will only be a matter of time before they are a working together full time as a team.
In the meantime, The Chelsea Hutchison Foundation has provided Jacob and his family a SAMiAlert monitor to keep him safe at night. The seizure-response service dog process is a long process and we believe stongly that every line of defense should be in place to protect these amazing children and young adults. A SAMiAlert is a sleep activity monitor for anyone (caregivers and individuals) who neds to watcharefuly for unusual movements at night. during slep, audio-video information from a remote infrared video camera is set to an app that runs on an iOS device such as an iPhone or iPod Touc. The SAMi app records and analyzes te ideo for unusual activity. When an unusual event is detected, it ds an alarm and records live audio and video from the SAMi network Camera. Within seconds, the individual or caregiver can take any necessary action.
