Thank you for contributing to this very special project. Very soon, Damien and Akuna will be working full time as a team. Akuna is in his final stages of training and the plan is that he will finish in the next two months. Akuna will be a constant companion to Damien and will respond to his seizures and hopefully in time, will be able to alert before the onset of a seizure.
This is a very special gift to this family as he and his mother both suffer from epilepsy. Damien lost his sister to SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy) in 2007, so you can imagine the blessing Akuna will be to his family.
Last September, Damien had the opportunity to spend some time with Akuna while in training. Everything went as planned and his familly is beyond excited to see this come full circle.
