Summary

The Murph Foundation is joining us from the USA for a 10-day challenge to complete three vital, community-requested projects. One key focus is securing our educare centre, which has suffered seven break-ins in two years. Over three days in late September, we'll install stronger doors, locks, security gates, fencing, and window reinforcements. With additional funds, we'll replace high-theft fixtures. Together, we'll create a safer space for our children to learn and grow.

Challenge

Our educare centre, located in the heart of a South African township, has suffered 7 break-ins over 24 months. Thieves steal fixtures like taps and door handles, causing damage and flooding. As the centre closes at night and on weekends, it becomes a soft target, putting vital resources and children's safety at risk.

Solution

With the amazing support of the Murph Foundation from the USA, we'll setting to upgrade security in 3 days-installing secure doors, locks, trellis gates, reinforced windows, and fencing. We'll also replace high-value fixtures with less desirable materials to reduce theft. This will all be done in partnership with the Murph Foundation crew and we are now actively fundraising to help cover the cost of basic supplies we will need to complete this 3 day challenge!

Long-Term Impact

Securing the centre ensures a safe, stable learning space for our staff and children. It will reduce repair costs, protect resources, and giveeveryone peace of mind. A secure environment builds trust in the centre and strengthens the community's commitment to early childhood education. Our staff work with close to nothing but ensure every child has a smile on their face every day but this is harder when you come to work and things have been destroyed by petty crime. Life is tough but we can help
