This micro-project was created to facilitate the purchase of school shoes to children living in the poverty and squalor of the Zandspruit Informal Settlement in Johannesburg. This settlement is composed mainly of tin structures otherwise known as shacks.
Thanks to your kind donations, we had the immense privilege of presenting a pair of shoes each to 60 boys and girls from Zandspruit Primary School located within the informal settlement. A new pair of shoes was such a welcome gift to the 60 children whose feet would otherwise be in worn out shoes if any at all.
We hope to reach many more children with these donations in the coming school terms but especially at the beginning of the year when the demand for shoes is even higher with newly admitted children. However, we are still receiving donations under the main project https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/educate-and-empower-poor-children so as to meet the needs of these vulnerable children. This is all possible because kind donors like you give to facilitate an elementary education for the less privileged children of the Zandspruit Informal Settlement. As a wise person speaking to school children once said, “You have brains in your head and feet in your shoes, you can steer yourself in any direction you choose.” As donors, you are not just providing necessities such as school shoes for these children but in a seemingly hopeless situation, you are giving them hope for a much brighter future.
We remain always deeply grateful for your support!
