In African schools boys woefully outnumber girls in attendance. UNESCO in a report titled "Education for All" identifies Sub-Saharan Africa as one of the regions that have the widest gender disparity in terms of education. Two out of three of the 110 million children who do not attend school are girls, and girls grow up to make two thirds of the world's 875 million illiterate adults. This project will help ensure that Fanta continues her schooling by providing her with a full scholarship.
Families with limited funds to educate their children focus on sending their boys to school, and many girls who start school drop out because their parents cannot afford to continue to pay for their education. Fanta's father died from Ebola and her mother is mentally ill. There is no one to provide for her education. This project will provide a full scholarship for Fanta covering her tuition, books, school supplies and related school expenses.
Funds from this project will help Fanta continue her education and eventually become an accountant - her desired future profession. Your support will help provide all she needs to be successful in school and ensure that she completes her education.
Healthy, well-educated and emancipated women are an excellent foundation for a new and free society. Your support will help Fanta to finish school, become independent and self-sufficient. In her chosen future career as an accountant, she will also be contributing to national development.
