Thriving at Johnson

The Johnson center is by far one of our most successful! There are just so many kids engaged there. Here are the latest highlights since our last report:

We have a teenage volunteer who is reading "Anna Dressed in Blood" with 11-14 year old girls. It's a spooky ghost book that they got so into, some of the older ones initiated reading it together even outside of our weekly reading hour, and then they RE-read it with the younger ones again. They are anxious to start the sequel - never heard kids so excited to be reading!
Wrapped up the BFG over the summer and have five NEW kids joining us for the Fall! That's about 10 kids in the group of 6-9 year old readers.
For our advanced readers there, one of our volunteers has commited to reading everything they want to read...and they're all reading different stuff. We can't get new books in their hands fast enough!
Some of the kids who first signed up with our program at the center are now helping run book clubs with the younger kids there.

Johnson is such an amazing network of staff and kids. We are so happy that reading is running rampant through that center.
