Launching Ramadan Food Support for Poor Families

By Ikechukwu Kelechukwu | Project Lead

We are pleased to officially launch our 2026 Ramadan Food Support micro-project focused on vulnerable Muslim families in Mararaba and surrounding communities.

As Ramadan approaches, our team has completed initial community assessments and identified 50 low-income households that struggle to afford daily suhoor and iftar meals during the fasting period. These families include widows, elderly caregivers, households with many children, and informal workers whose income declines during Ramadan.

This project aims to restore dignity and relief by providing nutritious food packs containing essential staples such as rice, beans, cooking oil, sugar, dates, and other basic items needed for daily meals throughout Ramadan.

What we have done so far

  • Conducted needs assessments within Mararaba and nearby settlements
  • Engaged community leaders and local volunteers to ensure fair selection of beneficiaries
  • Finalized food pack contents based on nutritional needs and cultural relevance
  • Developed a transparent distribution plan prioritizing safety and respect

What comes next

Once funding begins, we will:

  • Procure food items locally to support small vendors
  • Assemble and distribute food packs before and during Ramadan
  • Share photos, stories, and impact updates from beneficiary families

This project is about more than food, it is about compassion, dignity, and community solidarity during a sacred time. We are grateful to everyone who supports or shares this initiative and helps ensure families can observe Ramadan without hunger.

Thank you for standing with vulnerable families in Mararaba.
