Rachel needs counseling to recover from abuse

A microproject by Pathways to Safety International
Rachel needs counseling to recover from abuse

Summary

Rachel is a very smart girl that was horribly abused by her step-father in Mexico. At only six years old he began sexually abusing her. He threatened to kill Rachel's mother if she told. Finally, Rachel's mother found out, called us, and we were able to get Rachel and her mother back home safely. With this project we will be able to provide Rachel with counseling she needs. We found a counselor that will give Rachel 25 counseling sessions for only $40 a session.

Challenge

Rachel and her mother are safe and sound back in the USA. But Rachel is still reliving the nightmare of her step-father's sexual abuse every day. We need to get Rachel counseling to help her recover.

Solution

Rachel will receive the counseling she needs to be able to cope with the sexual abuse of her step-father.

Long-Term Impact

The project serves 500 women per year empowering them to find alternatives to a life of violence so their children grow up in violence free homes with their self-esteem in tact with the hope of stopping the cycle of violence in future generations.
